Dealing with Out-of-Stock Situations in Subscription Contracts

Auto Contract Sync manages subscription contract behavior when products go out of stock or return to stock.This feature helps merchants maintain accurate subscription statuses without manual intervention and reduces order fulfillment issues.

Auto Contract Sync ensures subscription contracts respond correctly to inventory changes, helping merchants maintain consistency and reduce support effort.

 

 

How Auto Contract Sync Works #

Auto Contract Sync monitors inventory status for products included in subscription contracts.

 

When a product becomes out of stock:

  • The subscription contract is Paused or Cancelled, based on the selected action.

     

When a product is back in stock:

  • The subscription contract is Resumed automatically.

 

Available Actions #

When a subscription contract product is out of stock

  • Pause subscription

  • Cancel subscription

 

When a subscription contract product is back in stock

  • Resume subscription

 

Skip Out-of-Stock Products #

As an alternative to Auto Contract Sync, merchants can enable Skip Out-of-Stock Products.

 

This feature:

  • Automatically skips out-of-stock products from active subscriptions or upcoming orders

  • Allows other in-stock items to continue processing

  • Helps avoid order delays while maintaining fulfillment continuity

 

How to Manage Auto Contract Sync Settings #

 

Step 1: Access the App #

  • Log in to the Shopify admin portal

  • Open the Easy Subscriptions app

Step 2: Open Settings #

  • From the app menu, select Settings

  • Click Auto Contract Sync

 

Step 3: Activate a Feature #

  • Enable Auto Contract Sync
    or

  • Enable Skip Out-of-Stock Products

Only one feature can be activated at a time.

Best Practice #

  • Review inventory behavior before enabling a feature.

  • Choose Auto Contract Sync if subscription status changes are preferred, or Skip Out-of-Stock Products if uninterrupted order processing is required.
