Different Subscription Plan Types in Easy Subscription #
The Easy Subscription app for Shopify offers two primary Shopify subscription plan types to support a variety of business models: Pay as You Go and Prepaid plans.
Each plan type is designed to align with your business goals—whether you want flexible, recurring billing or upfront payments with discounted pricing.
Pay as You Go subscription plans bill the customer at the start of each billing cycle. These are ideal for flexible subscriptions where the billing and delivery frequencies are the same.
- Monthly Magazine Subscription: Customers are billed monthly and receive a new issue each month. Can cancel or pause anytime.
- Weekly Meal Delivery: Subscribers are charged weekly and can skip or modify meals as needed.
- Bi-weekly Pet Supplies: Customers are billed every two weeks. They can adjust delivery frequency or product selection based on their pet’s needs.
For Pay as You Go plans, only one rule is needed:
- Billing Frequency = Delivery Frequency
Example: A monthly subscription means customers are billed and receive the product every month.
Prepaid subscription plans allow customers to pay upfront for multiple deliveries, offering cost savings and convenience. These are great for boosting customer lifetime value.
- Annual Software Subscription: Customers pay once for a full year of access at a discounted rate.
- Quarterly Beauty Box: Subscribers pay for three months of curated boxes upfront.
- 6-Month Fitness Membership: Customers get guaranteed class access by paying in advance for six months.
Prepaid plans require two rules:
- Billing Rule: How long the customer is paying for upfront (e.g., 6 months)
- Delivery Rule: Frequency of delivery during that time (e.g., monthly)
Example: A 6-month prepaid plan with monthly delivery = one payment, six deliveries.
Whether you offer Pay as You Go or Prepaid subscription plans, the Easy Subscription app empowers you to set up, manage, and customize Shopify subscription billing with ease — all without code.
