How to Create Quick Cart and Checkout Links
6 min readIntroduction
A Quick Cart or Checkout Link is a shareable URL that automatically adds selected products to a customer’s cart or takes them directly to checkout, with as much of the purchase pre-configured as you choose, from the product and purchase option down to pre-filled contact details and an automatically applied discount code. This is built for email campaigns, social promotions, and personalized outreach where reducing clicks between interest and purchase matters.
Why It Matters
Quick links remove friction from the buying process by skipping product discovery entirely, a customer clicks the link and lands with their cart or checkout already set up the way you intended. This is particularly useful for promoting a specific subscription plan, running a targeted campaign with a pre-applied discount, or following up individually with a customer who already agreed to a specific offer.
How to Access Quick Cart and Checkout Links
- Open the Easy Subscriptions app.
- Click Growth Tools.
- Select the Quick Cart and Checkout Links tab.
- Click Create New Link.
How to Create a Link
Step 1: Name the Link
Enter a Link Name. This is optional and used only for your own internal reference.
Step 2: Select the Product and Purchase Option
- Under Products, select the product variant to include when the link is opened.
- Set the Quantity.
- Choose the Purchase Option: One-time purchase, or a specific subscription plan if the product has one configured, for example a weekly or monthly plan.
If you select One-time Purchase for a product that has subscription plans available, a note confirms the product will be bought as a one-time purchase instead of a subscription through this link.
Step 3: Pre-fill Customer Information (Optional)
Under Customer Information:
- Email → Pre-fills the customer’s email at checkout.
- Phone → Pre-fills the customer’s phone number at checkout.
Under Personal Information:
- First name
- Last name
- Company name → Useful for B2B orders.
Under Address Information:
- Address 1
- Address 2
Under Country Information:
- City
- State / Province
- ZIP
- Country code → Enter the 2-letter ISO country code, for example US, GB, IN, or CA.
All of these fields are optional. Fill in only what you actually know about the customer you’re sending the link to; anything left blank, the customer fills in themselves at checkout.
Step 4: Add Custom Attributes (Optional)
Under Additional Properties, attach custom key and value attributes to the resulting order, useful for internal tracking or workflows, such as a campaign name, referral source, gift message, or internal order note. Enter a Key and its corresponding Value for each attribute you want attached.
Step 5: Choose the Link Destination
By default, the link behaves as a Checkout Link, taking the customer straight to checkout with everything pre-filled. Check Create Cart Link if you’d rather the link add the product to the customer’s cart without redirecting them straight to checkout, letting them review their cart first.
Step 6: Add a Discount Code (Optional)
Enter a valid, existing Shopify discount code to have it applied automatically when the customer opens the link. The code must already exist in your Shopify admin.
Step 7: Add an Order Note (Optional)
Enter a Note that automatically appears on the resulting order once it’s placed.
Step 8: Configure Payment Gateway Promotion (Optional)
Enable Shop Pay to encourage customers to complete checkout using Shop Pay when it’s available to them.
Step 9: Review and Generate
Check the Link Summary, which shows the selected products, any pre-filled email, and the link type, Checkout Link or Cart Link, before generating and sharing the link.
Best Practice
- Use a clear, internal Link Name for every link you create, especially if you’re running several campaigns at once, since these names are for your own tracking, not the customer’s.
- Only pre-fill customer information you’re confident is accurate, since incorrect pre-filled details can create a confusing checkout experience.
- Use Additional Properties to tag orders by campaign or source, so you can track which links are actually converting.
- Confirm a discount code already exists and is active in Shopify before adding it to a link, since an invalid code won’t apply.
- Choose Cart Link instead of the default Checkout Link if you want customers to review their cart before committing, for example when a link includes an upsell or add-on product.

A Checkout Link takes the customer straight to checkout with everything pre-configured. A Cart Link instead adds the product to their cart without redirecting them, so they land on the cart page and can review or add to it before checking out.
Yes. Under Purchase Option, select the specific subscription plan, such as a weekly or monthly option, instead of One-time Purchase.
The link will add the product as a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, and the interface confirms this with a note at setup so there’s no ambiguity about how that link behaves.
No. Every customer information, personal information, address, and country field is optional. Leave blank whatever you don’t know, and the customer fills it in themselves during checkout.
