Creating Subscription Groups in Easy Subscription #

Overview

Ready to sell subscriptions on Shopify? With the Easy Subscription app for Shopify, you can quickly configure subscription groups that define how often products renew, whether discounts are offered, and more.

This guide will show you how to create Shopify subscription plans with flexible options like Pay as you go, Prepaid subscriptions, discounts, and product swap features — giving your customers full control and boosting recurring revenue for your store.

Step 1: Navigate to the Subscription Groups Tab

Open the Easy Subscription dashboard and go to the Subscription Groups tab.

Click on “Create Group” to start configuring your first subscription setup.

Step 2: Name Your Group

Enter a group name for internal use and a display name (e.g., Save and Subscribe) that your customers will see on the storefront.

Step 3: Select Subscription Options

Choose whether to offer:

  • Subscription-only purchase (no one-time option)
  • One-time + subscription option (customer can choose)

Step 4: Add Subscription Products

Add products to the group. You can:

  • Add products individually
  • Select products based on their Shopify Collection

Step 5: Configure Subscription Frequency

Set how often products are delivered. Choose from:

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Yearly

Decide between a Pay as you go or Prepaid subscription plan. You can also add multiple frequency options by clicking “Add Frequency.”

Step 6: Offer Subscription Discounts (Optional)

Enable discounts for subscribing to specific plans. Choose from:

  • Percentage-Off: e.g., 10% off
  • Amount-Off: e.g., $5 off
  • Flat Rate: e.g., sell for $20

Discounts apply per frequency and enhance retention and conversion.

Step 7: Enable Product Swapping (Optional)

Enable the subscription swap feature so customers can choose alternative products within the customer portal. You can specify a custom list of swappable items for each subscription group.”

Step 8: Set a Fallback Product (Optional)

If a customer skips their swap, you can assign a fallback product to ensure the recurring order still processes successfully.

Step 9: Save and Start Selling Subscriptions!

Click the “Save” button to activate your subscription group. Your subscription setup is now live!

Summary

With the Easy Subscription app, creating subscription groups is fast, flexible, and fully integrated with your Shopify store. Customize delivery frequency, pricing models, and product swap options to build recurring revenue that scales with your business.
