Placing Test Orders in Easy Subscription #

Testing the customer journey is critical to ensure your Shopify subscription setup works seamlessly. With the Easy Subscription app for Shopify, you can place test subscription orders to verify everything from widget integration to recurring billing recognition and subscription contract creation.

Simulating the full Shopify subscription test flow helps merchants ensure:

  • Subscription widgets display correctly
  • Checkout detects recurring payments
  • Contracts are generated without issues
  • The customer experience is smooth from end to end

You have three methods to test subscription orders:

  • Shopify Payments Test Mode: Only this test gateway supports subscriptions. Others like Bogus Gateway or Stripe Test will not work.
  • Use a 100% Discount Code: Create a code eligible for subscriptions and test with your own account.
  • Place a Full-Price Order & Refund: Use real payment and issue a refund after completion.

Ensure the subscription widget appears on your product pages and is functioning correctly. This is essential for validating the subscription setup on your storefront.

Add a subscription-enabled product to cart and proceed to checkout. This simulates the exact experience a customer will go through.

During checkout, verify the presence of the “Recurring Subtotal” line item. This confirms the system recognizes the order as a subscription.

If using Shopify Payments Test Mode, use the following card:

  • Card Number: 4242 4242 4242 4242
  • Name: BG BG
  • Expiration: Any future date (e.g., 01/27)
  • CVV: Any 3-digit number (e.g., 123)

If using a discount code or real payment, proceed with your actual card details.

Finalize the order and go through the thank-you page. Ensure there are no errors during the transaction flow.

In your Easy Subscription dashboard, navigate to the Subscription Contracts tab to:

  • Verify billing and delivery intervals
  • Check subscription status and product info
  • Confirm accurate contract creation and status

Placing test orders using the Easy Subscription app ensures your recurring billing, subscription widget, and Shopify checkout flow work perfectly before going live — giving you and your customers confidence in the subscription experience.
