Bundle Quantity Break Step-by-Step Setup Guide

2 min read

A complete, easy-to-follow guide to create, configure, and launch Bundle Quantity Breaks — allowing you to sell “2-Pack,” “3-Pack,” “5-Pack,” etc. options for a single product with automatic discounts and simplified inventory management.

Before You Begin #

  • Ensure the parent product (base SKU) already exists in your Shopify store.

1) Enable Bundle Quantity Break #

  1. Log in to your Easy Subscription admin panel.

  2. Navigate to Features → Bundle Quantity Break.

2) Create a New Bundle #

  1. Go to Products → Create Bundle (or open an existing product and click Create Bundle Quantity Break).

  2. Select the Parent Product / SKU — the main product the bundle will reference.

  3. Click Continue

3) Add Quantity Breaks (Bundle Tiers) #

For each bundle you’d like to offer (e.g., 2-Pack, 3-Pack, 5-Pack):

  1. Click Add Tier.

  2. Enter Quantity — for example, 2, 3, or 5.

  3. Add a Title (e.g., “3-Pack — Save 15%”).

  4. (Optional) Upload a custom image for the tier.

  5. (Optional) Add a short description if needed.

  6. Set your Pricing method:

    • Fixed price (e.g., $45 total), or

    • Discount type (Percentage, Flat-off, or Amount-off).

  7. Click Save Tier.

  8. Repeat these steps for each additional quantity break.

4) Link Inventory to Parent SKU #

To ensure all bundles share the same stock:

  1. In the bundle setup, confirm Inventory tracking is set to Use Parent SKU.

  2. (Optional) If multiple variants exist, select the specific variant to link.

  3. Click Save.

This ensures selling a “3-Pack” deducts three units from the main product’s inventory.

5) Configure How It Appears on the Storefront #

  1. Go to Appearance → Bundle Quantity Break Widget.

  2. Choose your preferred layout:

    • Card view

    • Button selection

    • Dropdown menu

  3. Customize:

    • Enable “Show Savings” labels.

    • Enable Dynamic Price Update (recommended).

    • Set the default selection (e.g., Single Pack).

  4. Click Preview to check how it looks on your product page.

  5. Once satisfied, click Publish Widget.

6) Make It Subscription-Compatible (Optional) #

If you offer recurring orders:

  1. Open the bundle you created.

  2. Toggle Allow as Subscription to On.

  3. Assign subscription plans and billing intervals (e.g., every 30 or 60 days).

  4. Ensure pricing logic reflects the correct discounted bundle rate.

  5. Save your changes.

The subscription price will automatically reflect the Bundle Quantity Break discount.

7) Tokenization & Payment Validation #

If you’re using Shopify Payments or another tokenized gateway:

  1. Confirm your customers are redirected to the Shopify tokenization page during checkout.

  2. Complete a test purchase to verify that recurring subscriptions are linked properly.

8) Test the Complete Flow #

Perform these tests before going live:

  1. Product Page

    • Confirm the bundle widget displays correctly.

    • Switching tiers updates the price dynamically.

  2. Cart Drawer

    • Adding a bundle shows the right name, price, and quantity.

  3. Checkout

    • Verify order summary displays the selected bundle and correct pricing.

  4. Subscription Flow

    • Subscribe using a bundle to confirm the correct price and billing frequency are applied.

  5. Inventory Reduction

    • A “3-Pack” purchase reduces inventory by 3 units.

  6. Customer Portal

    • Confirm bundle and subscription details appear properly for the customer.

9) Troubleshooting Guide #

Issue Possible Cause Solution
Bundle price not updating Theme script conflict Reinitialize product form scripts from Appearance → Advanced
Inventory not syncing Parent SKU not linked Re-select the parent SKU and re-sync
Incorrect renewal price Bundle not mapped to subscription plan Refresh plan mapping under subscription settings
“Out of Stock” error Parent product sold out Restock or temporarily disable that bundle
Widget not showing Snippet missing from theme Reinstall snippet from Appearance → Theme Integration

10) Best Practices #

  • Always highlight savings — e.g., “Save 20%” badges improve conversion.

  • Use distinct images for multi-unit bundles.

  • Feature your Bundle Quantity Break offers in email or SMS campaigns.

  • Start with simple 2- and 3-Pack options before adding larger ones.

  • Regularly monitor performance and stock levels.

11) Disable or Edit a Bundle #

  1. Open the bundle in your Easy Subscription dashboard.

  2. Toggle Enabled → Off to disable temporarily.

  3. (Optional) Hide the widget on the product page.

  4. Existing subscriptions remain unaffected unless canceled manually.

12) FAQ #

Q: Does this create new SKUs in Shopify?
A: No, all quantity breaks reference the same parent SKU for accurate inventory management.

Q: Can customers mix variants?
A: No, this feature supports multiple quantities of the same SKU.

Q: Do Bundle Quantity Break discounts stack with other promotions?
A: Only if discount stacking is enabled globally (not recommended for bundles).
